This how-to is for integrating Allele with your Canvas LMS instance, for other LMSes, see:

  1. Create the developer LTI Key in Canvas to obtain the Client ID and Deployment ID .
    • You will need a handful of settings from us for this, these are listed below.
  2. Allele added as an External App in Canvas to either all courses or a single course.
  3. Then, use the form on this page in Allele to submit your LTI link request.
    • We will need some settings from both your LTI key and your External App in Canvas for this. In addition, there will be some standardized values that we need from Canvas, too.

Tips and tricks, common issues

  1. For Canvas, these values may look similar to yours to help determine if you’re on the right track. The important part is noted in bold below and likely will match your values.
  2. For the auto-accepted domains, we accept a comma-separated list of any potential domains, e.g. “,”
  3. If you are planning to register for LTI as an employee of a university or educational system, please know that you may need the pre-approval of central IT or otherwise before proceeding.
