What is it?

The state phase setting allows course authors to configure whether phases should be locked (i.e. inaccessible to a student) or unlocked by default.

Why is it important?

The state setting for a phase is important because it allows course authors to control the flow and accessibility of phases within a case.

Settings

  • Initially Locked? (Checked): If checked, the current phase will be locked until the prior phase has been successfully submitted by the student.
  • Initially Locked? (Unchecked): If unchecked, the current phase will be openly available for students to interact with at any time.

Did You Know?

A key use for phase states is to track completion percentage within courses. This data can be leveraged for credentialing, micro-credentialing, badging and many other use cases!
